چکیده
Background Sjogren’s syndrome (SS) is a systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease characterized by symptoms of dryness. In fact, subjective manifestations dry eyes or mouth are part the inclusion criteria 2016 ACR-EULAR Classification Criteria for primary SS (pSS). However, some patients with diagnosis may present without dryness, meeting based on EULAR activity index (ESSDAI) questionnaire (1). Studies non-dryness missing. Objectives To describe clinical phenotype pSS who lack dryness symptoms. Methods From 1738 consecutive fulfill and were followed up in 4 centers from Greece Italy (Universities Athens, Pisa, Harokopio Ioannina) (PAHI group), those sicca identified (non-Dryness Group) Cumulative, clinical, laboratory, immunologic histologic data collected compared age, gender duration-matched both oral eye 1:2 ratio (Dryness (Table 1). Statistical analysis categorical was performed Fisher exact test χ2 square accordingly numerical Mann-Whitney t test. Table 1. متن کاملRecurrent Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis Unmasks Sjogren Syndrome without Sicca Symptoms.
Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis (HPP) may occur as a rare complication of Sjogren Syndrome (SS) and Renal Tubular Acidosis (RTA). A 64-year male patient came with HPP, and was later diagnosed with distal RTA. The patient, who had no xerostomia and xerophthalmia, was diagnosed with primary SS from serologic and histologic findings of minor salivary gland biopsy. The patient recovered after potass...
متن کاملSjögren’s Syndrome and Sicca Symptoms in Patients with Systemic Sclerosis
Introduction: Several autoimmune diseases can be accompanied by dysfunction of the salivary glands, regardless of the presence or absence of association with Sjögren’s syndrome (SS). A recent study by Maeshima et al. found salivary hyposecretion in 58.3% of patients with various connective tissue diseases, particularly systemic sclerosis (SSc). Objective: To determine the prevalence of SS and s...
